Taking Care of your Wooden Bath
For Hinoki baths (wooden baths) used in your home, please ensure that you wash off the bath daily, allowing the water to drain out, and dry off your bath afterwards.Please ensure not to leave hot water in your bath, as this will result in a gelatinous substance sticking to the inside of the bathtub.
However, not using your bath tub for a long period of time (more than two weeks), alternatively in the event that your residence has washroom heating or floor heating, please note that bath tub may become too dry, causing cracking.
Ideal Daily Caring Method

Please drain out hot water after use.

Immediately after draining, clean off any stained portions using an antibacterial detergent (SC-1000, for example) and a soft sponge.In particular, please pay attention to the interior of the bath tub and to the outer area of the tub used to leave soap.

After washing, wipe off the residual water and the moisture on the surface with a dry cloth.

Then, please ventilate the washroom well and let it dry naturally. (Ensure to watch for over drying) Please ensure to clean the bath off as often as possible, just as you would a Hinoki chopping board in your kitchen.

Regular Care of your Bath Tub
Upon installation, a water proofing wood protection agent with an anti-mold and water-repellent effect will be applied to your bath tub. (Miyaki Hada Ichiban)
The water-proofing agent clears Japan’s Food Safety and Sanitation Act, and is perfectly safe to use, however its effect will begin to wear off in around six months.
We recommend applying the protective agent every half year to every year. Please refrain from using the bath tub for 24 hours after application.
In the unlikely event that mold should appear earlier on, do please apply the protective agent.
If requested, we would be able to order the detergent (sc-1000), wood protecting agent (Kihada-Ichiban), and bleach (Kabisuke).

When not using the bath tub for
long periods of time
When not using the bath tub for long periods of time, in order to prevent excessive drying, put a bucket with water in the bathtub and leave the lid on.
If it dries too much, the wood may shrink, and gaps may be formed due to the nature of the wood.
Durability
Although it depends on the installation method and the installation environment, the Japanese cypress bath is about 15 years as a replacement standard in case of regular maintenance. (It is not a period to guarantee the quality.) However, if the environment is bad, it will significantly deteriorate the deterioration.
